About Me

This ‘About Me’ business is a bit hard and what I write doesn’t sound very interesting so instead I’ll do 5 random facts about me:

1. My first bike was a blue bmx, I wanted to be like Nicole Kidman in BMX bandits but the best I could manage was some skids in the dirt.

BMX bandits

2. I love the smell of old books.

3. When I was about 8 yrs old I really wanted a broken arm so I practised falling over (thereby reducing the risk of actually breaking it when I did fall!).

4. I believe in faeries or at least in the possibility that they exist on a plane that we can’t see.

5. Apples make me burp. I have no idea why.

I’m writing this blog to share ideas, patterns, random thoughts, recipes and my 2012 ethical clothing challenge.

I hope you enjoy and please feel free to leave comments 🙂

  3. Kate,
I’m interested as to how you moved from failsafe to wholefoods. I have 2 young boys who I am considering doing the failsafe diet with but feel torn between that and a wholefoods with lots of stocks and fermented foods diet. What has your experience been and why were you using the failsafe diet initially?

    • Hi Cassie – sorry for the delay.
When my daughter was born it bcame apparent very quickly that she was uncomfortable or in pain a lot of the time. I came to the diagnosis of silent reflux and after trying failsafe myself (while breast feeding) and lots of naturaopathic remedies, I eventually needed to use reflux meds which were reasonably affective. It was really once she started solids that I really came to the conclusion that certain foods were an issue and her digestive system was under stress.
Failsafe was recommended by a friend and from memory i had some success there too, but it didnt sit right with me and after exploring various diet paths I actually met Jude Blereau and was properly introduced to wholefoods.
If I had to do it all again I would absultely try the wholefood/fermented food road first. My daughter has been on probiotics (powder form) since birth pretty much but we have recently switched to kefir water. She’s 3.5yrs now and I still have to be careful with her diet and still honing it and figuring out her triggers. Basically I assess how things are by her poo!

Would love to help you if I can.
      Kate xx
